It's 1941 and Private Poots (alias Frankie Howerd) is a mere cog in the war machine. Employed as Colonel Robin Witherton's batman (aka an officer's servant!), Potts slaves away deep in the bowels of the British government's underground headquarters for very little reward - well, honest reward anyway...

"You'd think butter wouldn't melt in her mouth, but put it anywhere else on her and, ooh, it'll sizzle and burn!"

Now, litter, ye not because it's no laughing matter being Private Potts when Col. Witherton is busy concentrating his war effort on the po-faced Petty Officer Bottomley! But Potts does have at least one thing going for him. That's a more than passing resemblance to General Hollocks (yes, Hollocks!)...

Whilst Col. Witherton is setting a trap to catch whoever in HQ has been leaking classified information, Poots is more concerned about a top secret memo he has "found" which demands that the FANYs (First Aid Nuring Yeomenry) be kept warm on their trip to Findland!

"But sir, couldn't we settle this over a violent game of Ludo?" Poor Potts. It really isn't entirely his fault that General de Gaulle was locked up in the Bloddy Tower whilst a geriatric Nazi was living it up in a luxurious hotel. So is it really necessary to appease the French by agreeing to a duel by the duck pond in Regent's Park?
