Broad Waterways - John Longden - Transport in Vision - Vintage - Pal VHS

This video programme, nearly an hour long, reflects life on two of Britain's prime commercial waterways in the early 1960s. It consists of two films made in colour by British Transport Films for the British Waterways Board, and now issued on video for the first time by Transport in Vision. Great care has been taken to ensure that the transfer from the 35mm film to video is of the highest standards.

The flims are:

BROAD WATERWAYS (Technicolor, 1960) A two day journey up the River Trent from Hull to Nottingham, with the skipper of the "Thames" in charge of 110 tons of newsprint. The film shows the development of commercial traffic on Britain's inland waterways.

ROBERT REID REPORTS ON BRITISH WATERWAYS (Eastmancolour, 1962) Popular television presenter of the day, Rober Reid, takes a trip from Avonmouth into the Bristol Channel on 'Primrose', and then along the Gloucester & Sharpness Canel to Gloucester Docks. Finally, he journeys up the River Severn to Worcester with a string of barges Iaden with aluminium, zinc, timber and dried fuit, all in the care of skipper Frank Savage.
