For the seven kids of George Khan - mood Pak chip shop owner - life is one long compromise. As George lights a desperate and losing battle family to conform to traditional Pakistani values his children go boldly in direction of their Meenah prefers football to saris. Hippie Saleem pretends to study engineering school. Head-throb Tann has a reputation as the local casanova and young Sand hasn't even been circumsised yet. With one disastrous arranged marriage already in the family eldest son Nazir fled at the altar to work in a hat shop in Eccles... George plots to bring his next two sons into line by marrying them off to the daughters of Mr Shah, master butcher hem Bradford! Unfortunately - for George both sons have ideas of their own and not because their prospective wives could both win first prize in an ugly contest!
