North Yorkshire Moors Railway - Colour Pal - Steam Trains - Pal - VHS

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs through 18 mil of dramatic, unspoiled moorland scenery, and has some o the steepest gradients of any line in the UK.

It was first constructed by George Stevenson as a horsediawn line in 1836 and was known as the Whig and Pickering Railway. It was later rebuilt for standard. gauge steam locomotives by George Hudson the 'Railway King'. The line was finally preserved in a shortened form by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway Trust — two years after it had been closed down by British Rail.

This video features the S15, Dame Vera Lynn and the Standard Tank 80135.

Join the passengers at Grosmont Station, take a cab-rid aboard the Great Southern Locomotive, and watch the trail go thundering by from dramatic lineside locations.

The voice over was written by Peter van Zeller and the video was shot in September 1990 with the full co-operation of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
