The Oscar winning Bob's Birthday gave us two unlikely middle class heroes - Bob & Margaret. He's a dentist (feeling "down in the mouth" about his age) and she's a chiropodist with horizontal hair. They live in the London suburbs with their two matching dogs (and surrogate offspring) William & Elizabeth.

A Tale Of Two Dentists Bob's business is booming, and when Margaret chips a tooth (Bob having inadvertently filled her bowl with dog biscuits instead of breakfast cereal), tells Margaret that he is unable to give her an appointment for some time. Unexpectedly, a young new dentist, Dr Stanway opens up a swanky air conditioned practice across the street from Bob Bob panics and threatens a dental fight to the last root canal

Bob & Margaret are a couple who provide a whole new way to look and laugh at the ordinary things in life that we all take for granted. Together they tackle such traumas as being burgled, going on package holidays and deciding whether or not having a child would ruin their lives. Both share a very British reserve and an antiseptic grip on their emotions. They approach life from opposite ends, and share almost everything including a healthy commitment to ambivalence.

Bob & Margaret find themselves at a loose and one evening when to their dismay, they find that there is absolutely nothing to watch on TV. Discussing, and swiftly dismissing all forms of cultural activity they decide to stay in with a romantic video and candle-lit pizza only to be suntmoned to Henry & Judy and screaming baby Morris house for a bit too much baby talk and some live action breant feading Bob and Margaret, with some trepidation, deliver their dogs. Willam and Etzabeth to the kennels With Bob and Margaret at home packing we cut back to the kennels, which have taken on the aura of Bates Motel run by a short fat dn sergeant under the thumb of his mysteriously unseen mother rodes
