The line from Waterloo to Exeter sees a remarkably varied range of motive power and scenery. In this feature we explore the services on this line during the latter part of 1988 ... THE CLASS 50's are shown in action at Exeter, Honiton, Salisbury, Basingstoke, Hook, and on the approaches at Waterloo. THE CLASS 33's are shown at work on both freight and passenger, while 56's, 47's, 156 Units and 0.E.M.U.'s are seen at work in Salisbury.

During the last 18 months this fine has become one of the last major strongholds of the 'traditional' railway scene in Scotland. In this feature we explore the route during August 1988, and examine the signalling, signal boxes, station structures and motive power.
