His Records Were Released Under The Name Of T. Rex, A Simplified Version Of The Original Name Of The Duo He Led, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Named After A Prehistoric Dinosaur. The Duo's Small But Devoted Cult Following In Their Early Acoustic Days Expanded Into Mass Teenage Adoration After Marc Bolan Plugged His Guitar Into An Amplifier And Shortened The Group's Name. Ten Consecutive New Single Releases Reached The Top 3 Of The Uk Chart, And Four Of The Ten Made The Number One Position. Inevitably, The Hysteria Died Down As Newer Idols Decorated The Walls Of Teenagers' Bedrooms, But Marc Bolan Continued To Score Hits, Albeit Of A Lesser Variety. With The Arrival Of Punk Rock, It Became Clear That Many Spikey Headed New Stars Regarded Marc Bolan With Immense Respect And Awe, Since He Had Been Their Original Pop Hero. He Was Showing Signs Of A Major Rebirth In Popularity Before He Was Killed In A Car Accident On 16th September, 1977, But The Passing Of Ten Years Has Hardly Diminished His Huge Appeal. In This, Volume Two, The Multi-faceted Image Of Marc Bolan Emerges. The Evidence Is Clear Of The Super Star Gradually Falling From Grace But Even When Marc Bolan Was Down - He Was Never Out. When Others Might, And Did, Give Up, Marc Would Not And This Determination Eventually Came To A Dimax In 1977 When Bolan Hosted His Own Tv Series Simply Called ""Marc“, A Bitter Irony Is That The Very Week He Completed His Last Show With David Bowie As His Special Guest, Marc Died And With Him Closed A Chapter In Rock 'n' Roll But On The Lips Of Those Who Loved Him For What He Was Will Always Be The Question - Whatever Happened To The Teenage Dream?
