When Basil Beauchamp, alias Dr Dare (simon Dee), TV's heart-throb doctor is admited to st.Swithin's Hospital, it leads to an unusual course of therepy.

Contankerous Head Surgeon, Sir Lancelot Spratt(james Robertson justice), prescribe a cruise aboard The Golden Horn, skippered by none other than his self-like brother, Captain George Spratt(Robert Morley).

In the meantime, inept Dr Tony Burke (Lestie Phillips) must arrange a rushed marriage od convenience in order to land a plumb medical post in America.

By a crazy course of circumstances, he ends up as a stowaway on board the very same ship when he follows his intended, Ophedia, on a Mediterranean modeling trip.

Needless to say chaos rules as Dr Burke vainly attempts tp avoid detection.

A task made all the more difficult when hw has to face passengers such as Harry Secombe, a larger than life pools'winner or irene Handi as an outrageous mum looking for a love match fro her daughter- a striptease artiste.
