Sweet News, Streets of Rage has been locked onto by Lionsgate and it looks like the side scrolling coin-op platform beat-em-up is about to be dug out, dusted off and given a facelift for the big screens.
Derek Kolstad is producing what is set to be a sterling hit, along with Sega’s Toru Nakahara, DJ2 Entertainment’s Dmitri M. Johnson, Timothy I. Stevenson, and Dan Jevons are also involved, not to mention Escape Artists Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Tony Shaw. Serious Business.
Centering on the efforts of several ex-police vigilantes Streets Of Rage is an andrenalin filled ride through a large fictional city trying to take down a well organised and ruthless crime syndicate that has corrupted its local government.
We are looking at some seriosly iconic characters that brought to life on film are sure to look immpressive, unique and dangerously bad ass.
The first three games in the franchise along with afourth released in 2020 provide plenty of potential back story for this to be at least, a very admirable trilogy. Especially when you consider we have John Wick's Derek Kolstad writing the script.
