Matt Damon and Ben Affleck Reunite with 'Good Will Hunting' Director for New Hulk Hogan Biopic

Hulk Hogan Takes Center Stage in New Film by Affleck, Damon, and Van Sant

A new film, "Killing Gawker," is currently in development, chronicling the high-profile lawsuit between wrestling legend Hulk Hogan and Gawker Media. This legal battle, which began in 2013, ended in a landmark $140 million victory for Hogan after Gawker published excerpts of a private video involving him and Heather Clem.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, who have a long history of collaboration, are producing the film under their production company, Artists Equity. The duo, known for their Oscar-winning screenplay of "Good Will Hunting," will once again team up with director Gus Van Sant, who helmed the iconic 1997 film. Van Sant will direct "Killing Gawker," with a screenplay penned by Charles Randolph, based on Ryan Holiday's book Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker, and the Anatomy of Intrigue.

A Long-Awaited Reunion and a Big Step Forward for Artists Equity

This project marks a significant reunion for Damon, Affleck, and Van Sant, who haven't worked together as a trio since the success of "Good Will Hunting." While Van Sant has directed other films since, including "Feud," "When We Rise," and "The Sea of Trees," he hasn't collaborated with Damon and Affleck together since their breakout film. However, he did direct Damon in the 2012 movie "Promised Land."

"Killing Gawker" also represents another major project for Artists Equity, Damon and Affleck's production company launched in 2022. Their first film under this banner, "Air," which starred both actors, was released in 2023. With "Killing Gawker," the pair continues to expand their collaborative efforts, building on a partnership that has spanned decades and numerous projects.

What to Expect from "Killing Gawker"

Details about the film's plot and casting remain under wraps, though rumors suggest that Affleck might take on the role of Hulk Hogan. Given the star power of Damon and Affleck, it's likely both will have significant roles in the film, though nothing has been confirmed. As "Killing Gawker" moves forward in development, fans can look forward to another compelling project from this dynamic team.
