The highly anticipated "Highlander" reboot, starring Henry Cavill and directed by Chad Stahelski, known for his work on the John Wick series, has received a new update. Described by Stahelski as "John Wick with swords," the movie is set to blend intense action choreography with a deep exploration of its iconic characters. Though previously scheduled to begin filming in July 2024, production has now been pushed to Q1 2025, with locations spanning Scotland, Italy, and Hong Kong.
Henry Cavill, famous for his swordsmanship in The Witcher, has already started training for his role. Teasing fans at a press event, Cavill said, “If you think you’ve seen me do sword work before, you haven’t seen anything yet.” While details about the plot are scarce, Stahelski hinted that the film will draw from the original Highlander movies and TV shows, while also introducing prequel elements that will set the stage for The Gathering, opening the door for future films.
Rumors also suggest that Michael Fassbender may be joining the cast as an immortal Mongolian warrior, possibly portraying Senghi Khan, though this has yet to be confirmed. With Cavill and Stahelski both promising a fresh take on the Highlander mythos, fans of swordfighting and medieval action are eagerly awaiting what is shaping up to be a thrilling cinematic experience.
